Is the world ready for html5?
“As an official from the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) told reporters today, There is already a lot of excitement for HTML5, but it’s a little too early to deploy it because we’re running into interoperability issues.” Particularly when it comes to video content, different devices and different browsers aren’t handling HTML5 consistently.”
I would agree we are not ready for HTML5 but there are a few good uses for it in the mean time. We have used some elements of the code to perform sliders, slideshows and small animation. The time it takes to build animation in html5 is expensive but new tools look very promising! We are using a few new tools to help us take flash into html5 but this is still very new and again expensive. So what do you think? While Apple pushes the world toward html5 and css3 the real truth is that there is not enough developers on board yet because of the lack of support and tools. The cost to a company wanting to just go html5 is like the days when we first got T.V. or better yet microwave ovens they cost a lot. We like what Jolie O’Dell said “We’re fairly uncertain that any developers will stop deploying HTML5 websites simply because W3C officials say the specification and APIs are still undergoing changes, and we’re equally certain that the same developers who are using HTML5 now will not be likely to want to develop with Flash/Silverlight or for older browsers such as IE6.”
